Terms of service

These terms are between you and Lane Four Holding BV, registered in the Netherlands (KvK [KVK]), which provides Office Hours. You buy Office Hours from Paddle, which sells it for us and handles payment, VAT and receipts.

1. What Office Hours is

Office Hours is a Mac app for university students. It reads your modules, slides, lecture recordings and deadlines from your university’s systems with your own sign-in, turns each lecture into a short audio episode, and answers your questions about your own material.

Office Hours is not made, approved or endorsed by any university.

2. Your account and your university sign-in

You need an Office Hours account, made with Apple, Google or your email. You must be a student at the university you connect, and at least 16 years old.

You sign in to your university in the app, on your own Mac. We never see or keep your university password. Office Hours only reads from your university’s systems. It never posts, submits or changes anything there.

Keep your account to yourself. One account is for one student.

3. Subscription, free trial and cancellation

Office Hours costs £12.99 a month, VAT included. Your first 7 days are free. You need a card to start the free week, and we take no payment in it.

Your first payment is taken 7 days after you start. Cancel before then (your account shows the date) and you pay nothing. Otherwise your subscription renews every month until you cancel. We email you two days before your first payment.

You can cancel any time in your account. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. Payments, VAT and receipts are handled by Paddle, under Paddle’s buyer terms.

If we change the price, we tell you at least 30 days before, and you can cancel before it applies.

4. Acceptable use

Use Office Hours for your own studies. Don’t share, sell or publish the episodes, answers or lecture material you get from it; that material belongs to your university and your lecturers. Don’t try to reach another student’s data, overload the service, or get around its limits.

Each day has a fair limit for questions and for talking time. The app tells you plainly when you reach one; it resets at midnight UK time.

5. AI-generated content

Episodes and answers are written by AI from your lecture material. They can be wrong or leave things out. Answers about your module say which lecture and slide they come from, so you can check. Your lecturer, your module page and your official exam information always come first.

6. Liability

We work hard to keep Office Hours available and correct, but we provide it as it is. We are not liable for marks, grades or decisions you make based on it. Where the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.

If you break these terms we may pause or close your account, and we’ll email you to say why. We may end the service with at least 30 days’ notice, and then refund the unused part of your current month.

Dutch law applies to these terms, without taking away the protection the law of your own country gives you.
